Tips for seasonal work authorization [Video]

Hello!

With multiple holidays coming in the next few months, many businesses need seasonal help. And with new employees come new Form I-9s and work authorization procedures.

For U.S. citizen or permanent resident seasonal workers, it's simple: Complete the I-9 as usual and you're all set. If you rehire any of them next season, you won't need fresh I-9s.

Companies bringing in foreign nationals for seasonal employment under the H-2-B visa program have a bit more to do. Before hiring, you must file Form I-129 Nonimmigrant Worker Petition for each individual. Then, complete all necessary I-9s.

Remember: Because the H-2-B Returning Worker Program expired in September 2016, employers must bring in new hires each time to remain compliant with this program.

Thanks for watching! Come back soon for more I-9 compliance best-practice tips.
