Hello!

Although it won't be mandatory until SeptemberĀ 18, 2017, employers should consider using the new version of theĀ Form I-9, released July 17, 2017.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the new form July 17, only eight months after having issued a previous update in November 2016.

Overall, the differences between the two forms are minor. Some of the changes include revisions to List C, of the list of acceptable documents for verification ofĀ work authorizationĀ and identity. Other changes are minor verbiage adjustments.

Though these changes are small, compliance with all USCIS guidelines is essential for all businesses - especially considering that fines for errors on the Form I-9 rose considerably last year.Ā
